Sumaya Zainalabedin is retired after having served in different sectors in the field of business.
Her main focus of experience was at Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance in the Islamic
finance department and coordinated various programs. Sumaya was a successful coordinator at
the department and played a crucial role in managing a number of programs from administration
to managing cliental relationships locally and abroad.
Before that she was at the Ministry of Education working in the Human Resource department
where she carried out the pre-employment procedures before recruitment of teachers and
administrators employed by the government. Sumaya was engaged in a lot of communication
between the ministry staff on different levels and during interviews.
Sumaya first started her full time working life at Citibank in the Central Liability Department of
the offshore banking unit for 4 years after graduation where she gained the first exposure to
banking and investments.
Sumaya is a university graduate of Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the
University of Bahrain. She graduated from Sacred Heart School where she has a number of
certificates from the United Kingdom in Ordinary levels and a number of RSAs and at BIBF
attended a number of courses in Islamic Finance and self-development too which all contributed
to her interpersonal skills.
